Researching rural realities in Georgia

5 July 2008

Nigar Goksel from ESI's Istanbul office and Goran Buldioski of the Think Tank Fund visited Tbilisi in early June to discuss and evaluate the development of ESI's research in Georgia. Together with Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, ESI Georgia analyst, they met the local researchers involved in ESI's capacity building program.

Nigar and Ketevan interviewed a number of activists on gender issues after which Ketevan headed to three regions of Georgia - Guria, Adjara and Borjomi/Bakuriani for research on rural realities. Coupled with the field trip in Kakheti in mid May, a comprehensive picture of rural life is coming together.

ESI analyst Besa Shahini has now also joined Ketevan's research - her visit will span from 5 July until 20 July. Besa brings expertise from similar research in Kosovo.
