Athens – A progressive EU Asylum and Border policy is possible

ESI's Gerald Knaus participated in the conference "Greece Forward II: Progressive Refugee Policies for Today and Tomorrow" in Athens where he gave a presentation in the panel on "Europe and the Refugee Question: Solidarity in (In)action". The other speakers on Gerald's panel were Tanja Fajon, Vice-President of the Socialists & Democrats Group, European Parliament, Andreas Loverdos, Member of the Greek Parliament (Democratic Coalition), and Former Greek Minister, and David Kipp, Associate at the Global Issues Division, German Institute for International and Security Affairs.

Other conference participants included Prokopios Pavlopoulos, President of the Hellenic Republic, Massimo D'Alema, Former Prime Minister of Italy and President of FEPS, and Constantinos Simitis, Former Prime Minister of Greece.

While in Athens, Gerald also gave a presentation on the EU-Turkey agreement at the Dutch embassy for EU diplomats and gave an interview on migration policy to the Greek TV channel SKAI.
