Skopje – Meetings on on EU enlargement, education, and refugees

ESI's Gerald Knaus and Kristof Bender went to Skopje for a series of meetings with government officials, international diplomats, international organisations, and NGOs.

On 6 November, they spoke at a brainstorming at the Swedish embassy on migration and EU enlargement.

On 7 November, they met with Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov and his team to discuss ESI proposals on EU enlargement. Afterwards, they met with Education Minister Renata Deskoska to present ESI's PISA gap research. In the evening, Gerald gave a presentation at the South East European University on "EU, refugees and borders - and how Macedonia matters".

On 8 November, they met with officials from the ministry of the interior to discuss migration and asylum procedures. On the same day, they met with the EU Delegation and UNHCR.
