ESI at the Turkey-EU Lisbon Observatory

ESI analyst Ekrem Eddy Güzeldere was invited to attend Turkey’s EU membership Observatory, which aims to promote a common understanding both in Turkey and the EU of the challenges and opportunities of the future enlargement and to encourage informed civic debate with a view to addressing perceptions regarding culture and values expressed by the society and State. Running successfully as a civic dialogue project since 1994, it is now a part of the Europa-Bridges of Knowledge program, based at Sabanci University and implemented in cooperation with partner institutions and associates.

The 2007 Lisbon Observatory, organized during the Portuguese presidency of the EU, will focus on the Commission’s 2007 Progress Report of Turkey within the framework of Euro-Med issues, security and, in particular, perceptions and culture.
