Berlin – ESI at public debate on climate change, migration, and refugees
ESI's Gerald Knaus was invited to a public event with climate experts and German Green Party MPs to debate on migration, refuge and how to keep a broad European coalition to deal with these issues and climate change in a humane and effective manner.
He suggested that it is not a promising strategy of some experts to warn of "millions of climate refugees" heading to Europe; in reality, now and in the next years, very few people cross the Mediterranean.
The event was moderated by Katrin Göring-Eckardt, MP and head of the Grren party in the Bundestag. The other speakers were Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Wissenschaftlicher Beirat der Bundesregierung Globale Umweltveränderungen; and Sophia Wirsching, Bundesweiter Koordinierungskreis gegen Menschenhandel e.V.
