Vienna – ESI at NEOS LabTalk "Paradise Europe? Opportunity Africa?"
11 September 2018
ESI’s Gerald Knaus gave a presentation on European migration policy at the event "Paradies Europa? Chance Afrika?" of the Austrian political party NEOS. Gerald argued for a more realistic debate and the ability to control irregular migration. He challenged populist arguments that population growth in Africa inevitably results in an increase of irregular migration to Europe.
Gerald’s presentation was followed by a panel discussion with Stephanie Krisper (NEOS Spokesperson for Foreign and Development Policy, Interior Affairs, Integration, Migration and Asylum) and Kilian Kleinschmidt (former director at UNHCR and advisor to the Austrian government).
