Rome – Discussions on migration policy with European MPs and at the Vatican
2 February 2019
ESI's Gerald Knaus was invited to the Sixth Mercator European Dialogue in Rome where around 60 national members of parliament met, reconnected and discussed the main challenges that Europe faces a few months ahead of the European Parliamentary Elections. In the event titled "Europe: Is the System Broken?" participants discussed the state of Europe's systems, ranging from its democratic shortcomings to its capacities to deal with external trends.
Gerald led a discussion group on "(Mis)Managed Migration – EU migration policy: from chaos to stalemate".
The day before, he had a meeting with the Holy See's migration and refugee advisors at the Vatican.
