Philipp Sandmann joined ESI as a fellow in May 2024 and is currently a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) programme at Georgetown University, where he is specialising in international development with a focus on migration. Philipp holds a bachelor's degree from Middlesex University (London) and an M.A. from City University (London), where he studied TV journalism. Until July 2023, he worked as a TV reporter and political correspondent for Germany’s largest private news network RTL/ntv, where he regularly interviewed politicians live on air. Philipp has reported on German and international politics for almost a decade, covering topics such as Germany’s changing role in NATO and the European Union. He accompanied politicians on trips to Israel, Latvia, and Kosovo. Philipp has written political analyses and op-eds for leading German newspapers such as BILD, FAZ, and Welt.
