Vienna – ESI meets UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

On 21 May Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, invited human rights lawyer Manfred Nowak, EU Agency for Fundamental Rights director Michael O'Flaherty, and ESI's Kristof Bender to an informal meeting. They discussed political developments in the EU, Austria, Hungary, and Poland as well as European asylum policy.
The High Commissioner was in Vienna to attend an international expert conference marking the 25th anniversary of the World Conference on Human Rights that in resulted in the 1993 Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action.
