ESI's Gerald Knaus particpated a meeting of the "Global Migration Group" in Rome, organised by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), composed by academics, experts and practitioners from several European countries, Senegal, India, Australia, Canada and Mexico and chaired by former Italian Prime Minister Giuliano Amato.

The Group discussed the Global Compact on Migration that is currently being negotiated by the member states of the United Nations and will prepare a document which will outline a new progressive vision on migration, to be presented in New York at a conference that FEPS will be organising on the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting in Rome will be followed up by a second one in Dakar this May.
