ESI' Gerald Knaus was invited to a conference organised by the European League of Economic Cooperation at the French Senate in Paris. He presented ESI proposals what policy Europe needs to deal with irregular migration across the Mediterranean and what policy France should propose for sea rescues, asylum, and migration at Europe's external borders.

The other speakers were Monique Barbut, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification; Hippolyte d'Albis, professor at the PSE-École d'économie de Paris; and Jean-Christophe Dumont, economist and head of the migration department at the OECD.

The following day, Gerald spoke at a lunch briefing on migration for government officials and NGO representatives organised by the German Heinrich Böll Foundation.
