Berlin – ESI discusses future of Europe and the Western Balkans with young leaders

Adnan Cerimagic, ESI’s senior analyst, took part in the opening session of the “Shared Horizons” programme, organised by the French Institute in cooperation with Brčko-based organisation Idea X. The session brought together 16 young people from the Western Balkans and France for an online discussion on Europe’s geopolitical context and its relationship with the region.
In his keynote talk, Adnan outlined Europe’s evolving policies, the legacy of enlargement, and the role of regional cooperation. Drawing on ESI’s research, he discussed the EU’s engagement in the Western Balkans and how young people across the region perceive Europe’s future. Together with Adnan, participants reflected on regional diversity, common challenges, and the importance of active youth involvement in shaping Europe’s future.
The session marked the first in a four-part series designed to build skills in public advocacy and engagement. It offered participants an opportunity to share perspectives, exchange ideas, and critically assess the EU’s role in their societies.
