Podgorica – ESI discusses far-right influence and democratic resilience in Southeast Europe

ESI senior analyst Adnan Cerimagic participated in the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s FES Dialogue Southeast Europe workshop “Far-Right in Southeast Europe: Impacts of Global Instability” in Podgorica, Montenegro. The event brought together experts, researchers, and activists from across the region to analyse how global political trends are fuelling far-right narratives and undermining democratic institutions.
Adnan contributed to discussions on the impact of the radical right and Eurosceptic forces on EU enlargement policy, building on findings from ESI research and reflecting on the implications for Western Balkans countries. The workshop also featured sessions on anti-feminist movements, defence policy shifts, and strategic responses to far-right mobilisation.
The event was organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and forms part of its ongoing efforts to support democracy, rule of law, and European integration in Southeast Europe.
