ESI's Friedrich Püttmann participated in a field trip to Lebanon organised by the German Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation for representatives from German politics, ministries and think tanks to familiarise themselves with the situation of Syrian and Palestinian refugees on the ground and to establish links for future co-operation and knowledge exchange.

The programme lasted three days and consisted of various talks by and roundtable discussions with local representatives from civil society, academia, politics, UNHCR and UNRWA, including the Lebanese Minister for Social Affairs in charge of managing migration. Moreover, the delegation went on two excursions to a Palestinian and a Syrian settlement to meet and talk to refugees directly to better understand their condition.
